911—A call to action. Most remember the moment they saw the news flash about the attack on the twin towers in New York. That day changed the world. I was with my newborn girl in Canary Wharf visiting my husband for lunch. Seeing the footage made me wonder what kind of world I had brought my daughter into. It is easy to respond to this with anger at the terrorists and just want to bomb the $£: + out of them, but it is important to stand back and examine how we got there. Many have written about the problems of the US’s foreign policy and how in many ways we have promoted the terrorists attacking the west. See this film for more information. https://www.filmsforaction.org/watch/the-one-thing-never-mentioned-when-talking-about-islamist-terrorism/

Among the many publications on this subject, Ronan Farrow’s, War on Peace explains how the US government has created many of the violent problems it is dealing with right now. Why? Misled politicians or planned promotion of the military-industrial complex. Either way, the time has come to change the way the USA engages with the world. We must learn from the past failures of the War on Terrorism, and War on Drugs, and stop making war. Many of the people making these political decisions will lose their source of billions of dollars so they continue with the deadly status quo. I think Martin Luther King covered this perfectly with this quote and it is this message that I try to promote in my books.
